3D World Indie / Rock Awards 2007

Young and Restless: Karina Utomo, you rock our world.
INTERNATIONAL BAND OF THE YEAR
Radiohead: yeah, we’re shameless fanboys. But they’re still the best band in the world, and In Rainbows is still brilliant.
BEST GIGS OF THE YEAR
Pixies at V Fest
Nick Cave and Grinderman at the Enmore
Muse at Sydney Entertainment Centre
Gotye at the Metro
Bob Log the Third at Spectrum
Japanther in a garage, in an alley, behind the Ben Sherman offices
WORST GIG OF THE YEAR
Bumblebeez live - pretty much anywhere. If you’re ever wondering about the definition of a ‘studio band’…
Beck at V Festival. Sorry Beck, we love you, but even the puppet show couldn’t save this lack-lustre performance.
BEST ROCK VENUE
Hopetoun – still the only place you can see amazing live music for under ten bucks every night of the week.
BEST INDIE NIGHT
Purple Sneakers – the original and still the best. We’re going to miss the sticky carpet and blown out speakers of the Abercrombie, though.
Rollerskate Skinny – we’ve never been there, but they get points purely for the obscure Catcher in the Rye reference.
BEST HAIRCUTS OF THE YEAR
The Horrors – in an indie field full of strong contenders, the Horrors had the courage and tenacity to take hairspray and eyeliner to great new heights.
Noel Fielding – he’s not really a rock star, but he does have the best “basic back comb structure with a bit of root booster, framed in a cheeky fringe” in the whole world.
WHO’LL BE BIG IN 08
WHO WE REALLY WANT TO SEE IN 08
Led Zeppelin and Bowie, pretty please, and also Radiohead. Also, while we’re on the fantasy list, can we also have tours by a reformed Cream and Libertines-
NO-SHOW OF THE YEAR
Cut Off Your Hands (and break both your legs)
FINGERS IN THE EARS LALALA I CAN’T HEAR YOU AWARD
Operator Please – Just A Song (About Ping Pong). As in, Operator, Please Call God and Ask Him to Make it Stop.
