English House/Electro House act Bodyrox is made up of the highly in-demand production duo Jon Pearn and Nick Bridges. 3D’s Daniel Crichton-Rouse caught up with both members in the lead-up to Their australian tour.

JON PEARN

You were here recently for the MTV Video Awards, nominated for Yeah Yeah. Is this when you decided to bring Bodyrox down under for a tour-

We’ve been planning to tour Australia for a while now but our schedules have been a bit too tight to get over before now. It’s difficult to find time when both Nick and I are available together.

How did you and Nick hook up-
I met Nick when we were playing at Pacha in Ibiza for Ministry of Sound. We decided to do a track together shortly afterwards which was signed immediately. We’ve been working together for nearly five years now.

You’ve mixed the new Generationext House2hard compilation. Are there any tracks you chose you’d like to highlight in particular- What did you want to bring to the series-

We wanted to keep the comp accessible without losing the underground edge. There is a great mixture of tracks on there from established and up-and-coming artists. There are some great new mixes of huge classics like I Feel Love and He Not In, some new material from some of the biggest underground producers in the world like Sebastien Leger and Dubfire; and an exclusive preview of our new single What Planet You On.

NICK BRIDGES

With the Oz tour, there are a few nights where Bodyrox split up with a member DJing one city and another somewhere else. Is this to cover as much of Australia as you can in the short period of time you’re here-
Yes, we have a mad schedule so this was the only solution.

You are resident at two of the largest clubs in the UK, possibly the world, Fabric and Ministry of Sound. Would you say that you are at the peak of your career-
As residencies go, there isn’t a lot better- I don’t play at Ministry very often now though as my schedule is pretty hectic to say the least. I’m looking forward to spending a little more time in London after the summer slows down.

You hooked up with Luciana again for your new single What Planet U On- – you must have a pretty good relationship. How did that collaboration come about-
Luci is great! She is one of the best writers in the world. She is perfect for the sound we are producing right now. We’ve known her and her writing partner Nick Clow for years and asked them to get involved when Universal signed Yeah Yeah.
