How did you fall in love with music-
It was a funny story how I fell in love with hip hop and RnB… I always loved music, growing up learning how to play the piano in early childhood, but fell in love with DJing after seeing my good friend play the local house parties in the ’90s doing happy hard when the rave scene just came in.
I started DJing happy hard when I was in grade eight. I did house parties around the local neighbourhood, switched to RnB, and eventually realised it wasn’t a hobby anymore. I got more creative and got hooked.
I spent years entering (and winning) competitions in places such as the Castle Hill Tavern and Coogee RSL. I was always excited when I found a good record and just wanted to let the crowd hear it - like it was my mission.
What was the first album you ever bought-
The first album I bought was Another Bad Creation and it was hot, especially the single Iesha… I also loved Boyz II Men.
Who do you respect-
I have the most respect for the cool cats in the industry: DJ Moto and Tikels for bringing their classic mixtapes. Also DJ Rectangle and of course Grand Master Flash, for making the DJing art form what it is today. Finally, the Craze for being so talented and Qbert using turntables to talk to aliens which I want to learn some day…
Where would you like to be in five years’ time-
In five years’ time I would like to be still DJing and wanting to do it as a full-time job and running my own business: either working in a successful club or helping young DJs get in watching them grow as others have done for me in the past - thanks, you know who you guys are. Being on top by yourself is lonely -you want to bring many up there as possible.
How would you like to be known-
I like to be remembered as a down-to-earth guy who likes to have fun…and most importantly the best DJ in the world.
