3D spoke to organiser Shaun Rennie about leukaemia fundraiser Light The Night.

The idea behind our charity event is:
Light the Night is inspired by my younger brother Matthew, who was diagnosed with Leukaemia in August 2004. Matt’s determination and tenacity in fighting this disease inspired myself and some friends to do something to help fund research that will help find a cure for leukaemia. Matt sadly passed away on Saturday 27 October 2007. He was 24 years old. Light the Night will be held in his honour.

The funds raised will go towards:
The Arrow Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation. This year proceeds will fund a ‘Gene Switch’ Research Grant project conducted by the Haematology Research team at St Vincents Hospital, which will help design new strategies for cancer therapy.

In previous years we’ve had acts such as:
Human Nature, Jenny Morris, David Campbell, Paulini, Barry Crocker, Don Lane, Bob Downe, iOTA, Emma Pask, Eddie Perfect, Judi Connelli and many more

The talent we’ve got lined up to play this year includes:
Katie Noonan, iOTA, Jade MacRae, Eddie Perfect, Toni Lamond, Emma Pask, Tamsin Carroll, Hayden Tee, David Harris, cast members from Miss Saigon and Respect the Musical and more.

The other tricks up our sleeve are:
There will be a few special surprises on the night… I can’t give them all away!

Check out our night if you’re into:
Musical theatre, rock, folk, jazz, classical, comedy, dance and just being a part of what is really going to be a very special evening to honour a very special man.
