Alex Kidd In Hard Dance World

Dutch hard dance star Alex Kidd is hitting Sydney soon for Q-Dance. 3D threw him a few questions to find out what he’s been doing since we last chatted with him.

You hold a few residencies in various UK clubs – how busy are you exactly-
Monday – Friday day or night working in office or studio then three – four gigs at most weekends across UK, Europe and soon Oz! This year however I am to cut back on the quantity of gigs and do more quality!

How do you find time to work on your own productions-
At the moment I am struggling especially as I have launched my new label Kiddfectious, but rather than said aimlessly in the studio its all planned out.

What originals/remixes are you working on at the moment-
I am currently in Plymouth working with my protégé Kid Kaos, working on the next future releases on my label. Recently I finished remix of Signum – Coming On Strong, out exclusively on the Hard Dance Awards album, as well as working hard with BK & Organ Donors for future releases on my label. Solo-wise I have a few tricks up my sleeve. 2008 will be my busiest year ever on the production front!

You’re coming out to Australia to play Q-Dance. Are many of those on the bill your peers-

Zany is one of my all time favourite producers and good friend so I get his new music. I also feel I really represent what the Dutch Q-Dance lot are all about by pushing that sound in the UK and through my Kiddfectious events. Luna is also a good friend of mine and one of the best DJs on the Dutch scene! I was also partly responsible for bringing Dana over to the UK at the early days with a date at Goodgreef where she now plays regularly!

Token question but are any Australian DJ/producers catching your eye (or ears) lately-

Jetblack and Dr Willis – top buddy and legend! There is a young kid in Sydney called Sdee who’s doing the biz and a few good cheeky booties that I have been rinsing.

What other exciting plans can you let us know about this year-

Its all a bit hush hush at the mo’ but look out for a Goodgreef Xtra Hard album in June and BBC Radio 1 Essential mix in May, plus a very special set at Dance Valley and rocking Ibiza as always. The news on everyone’s lips over in the UK is my underground festival Kiddstock ’08! Check out kiddstock.com for more info.
